RAGE ‘The Shrouded’ Video is Absolutely Gorgeous

Bethesda has released a new video from the id-developed RAGE. ‘The Shrouded’ shows off some NPC interaction, driving, and first-person shootouts all taken from actual game play footage.

It’s not just that the video is visually stunning — which it very much is — but that everything looks so well designed and full of character. I love the spider-drone!

Look for RAGE on PC, Xbox, and PS3 when it hits shelves on 9/13/2011.

id Preview’s Rage’s Multiplayer Features

Today we finally learn a bit about the multiplayer element we can look forward to when Rage hits shelves this September.

One mode, called ‘Rage Combat Rally’, and as the name implies, features vehicular combat. While players race around trying to explodenate each other, the ‘Rally’ mechanic kicks in. As players drive over an initial ‘rally point’ a score multiplier kicks in, increasing for each additional point hit, the multiplier increases. The rally points are dynamically generated to appear a close to and infront of the player.

The second mode offered will join two players in specifically designed co-op levels that branch off from the main single-player story. For instance, one level has players acting out the sheriff’s raid on the RC car-bomb factory; an event that is referenced during the single-player campaign.

Along with the online reveal, id showed two new areas of the game; Subway Town and the Prison. Lastly, the pre-order bonuses have been revealed. Users who pre-order the game will get an exclusive armor set, custom dune buggy, the Fist of Rage melee weapon, and a double-barreled shot-gun. Neat.

New Trailer for idSoftware’s RAGE

Futuristic football hooligans are a bit mellower than today's variety.

A new video for id’s upcoming shooter, RAGE, has been posted to the game’s age-restricted website. The video shows off the game’s impressive environments and character design, as well as the fast paced action we’ve come to expect from id’s shooters.

It looks good. Really good. But with more blockbuster releases than I can recall on the horizon, RAGE will have some stiff competition in the shooter category this year.
